Winter holidays, cold weather and that sweet magical winter atmosphere will probably keep you away from the gym to some extent if not completely. Exercising less and eating more is a sure way to add a few unwanted pounds, but who can blame us? Yes, summer is nowhere near but it’s never too early to start preparing your body for the beach. But why wait for the end of winter to start with preparations when there’s a lot you can do during winter that will make your abs stand out? Let’s take a look at what you can do to get a flat stomach during winter.
First of all, you need to cut calories. By cutting 250 to 500 calories a day you will lose 1/2 to 1 pound per week! However, do not overdo it. You can easily mess up your metabolism and lose muscle mass if you cut too much. Therefore, if you are a woman do not plummet below 1,200 calories and if you are a man never go under 1,400 calories. Many of you are now interested in what you should eat and what this diet should consist of. You’ll have to eliminate junk food. Stock up on healthy foods and consume balanced meals rich in lean proteins, whole grains, fresh produce and low-fat dairy. If you crave snacks on a regular basis it is best that you buy some fresh fruit or veggies and then slice them and pack them so that you can carry them with you wherever you want. Also, avoid vending machines at your office, bring fresh fruit from home and enjoy that rather than some unhealthy candy bar.
In order to enjoy some of your favorite treats and not gain unwanted pounds, you should plan ahead for winter and winter holiday parties. That way you won’t overindulge, and you’ll still be on track with your diet. When you’re at a party you can eat whatever you like but it is essential that you always eat small portions of your favorite cookies and treats. That way you won’t feel deprived but at the same time you’ll avoid overeating. After the party is over you should get back on track with your regular diet. By that we mean that you have to go back to your calorie-reduced diet. Another important thing worth mentioning is the water intake. Drinking enough water will help you regulate and optimize your metabolism. But there is another good side to greater water intake. Various studies show that water actually suppresses appetite and food cravings. Drinking 8 to 10 cups of water a day is recommended. Water will rid you of sodium which will make you debloat faster. So, when you arrive at the party, pour some water in your cup before eating.
During winter, you need to have training sessions of some kind if you want a flat stomach. We recommend that you have 150 to 300 minutes of cardiovascular exercise each week throughout the season. Cardio exercises will certainly make that belly fat go away. Get a gym membership and start your indoor workouts. If you aren’t a huge fan of gyms you can always exercise at home. On the other hand, you can also try out some fun outdoor activities. Make sure that you buy proper clothes that will keep you warm. Those include winter boots, pants, coat, high-end compression clothing such as underpants and undershirt and other winter garment that will keep you warm. Go and look for your ice skates or dust off your skis. You can even go sledging with the kids. Hours of fun and calorie burning are guaranteed.
Follow our instructions and we are sure that you’ll cut a few pounds. You can have a drink or two at parties and special occasions but never forget to limit your consumption. Of course, you also need to stay active. It isn’t easy to get a flat stomach, especially not during winter, but it is not impossible either.
